Dry farmed Chardonnay from the White Salmon Vineyard on Underwood Mountain in the Columbia Gorge AVA. Our Chardonnay is planted on Dijon and Celilo clones- a McAndrew selection that has matured early and produced ultra premium Chardonnay on Underwood Mountain. The Chardonnay field is planted in a deep, sandy loam soil with some clay mixed in. Vines can grow to a good size. The vines are planted 1.5 meters apart and are 2.5 meters across the row. A trellis to support a Scott Henry system is in place. The vineyard is located near the confluence of the White Salmon and Columbia River, less than a mile away from either at elevations between 500 and 650 feet. We typically harvest this Chardonnay at between 22-24 brix with pH of 3.3-3.5 and TA of .68-.60. Arrangements can be made for the grapes to be crushed or pressed on premise.
